Heather’s Hues Charity Duo

Hello, fellow lacquer lovers! I have another duo from Heather’s Hues to share with you tonight and not only are they gorgeous but they will help support a wonderful cause. I am beyond honored that I was asked to review these and share them with you all.

Before we get into the swatches, I’m going to give you a little background about this duo. First, $2 from each bottle sold will be donated to the Cancer Research Institute. (Heather chose this charity because it has stellar ratings from all of the charity watchdogs. Sadly, there aren't many charities specifically for uterine cancer or gynecological cancer and the ones that do exist are either too small or new to be rated). Heather went on to share this information with me, “A few months ago, a Hue-t-pie named Katie contacted me and asked if I would create a special custom polish to not only lift her mom's spirits while she goes through treatment, but also to share with the team of friends and family supporting her along the way. I don't typically offer custom polishes that I've created for someone in my shop, but after talking with Katie and Mama Gayle, I decided that Sparkly Unicorn Poop could really help others too. I created "Peach Believe-in-me" to represent the uterine cancer awareness ribbon and because it looks great with "Sparkly Unicorn Poop" don't you think?”

She also shared Katie’s story with me: “I was in the hospital when I found out that my Mama had a rare form of uterine cancer. We didn't know what her prognosis was or what treatments she'd need. Since I was stuck over 400 miles away, and couldn't be there to give her a hug, I focused on something I could do. Mostly that involved sending her silly socks and comfy pajamas. But since Mama and I always get pedicures when we're together, nail polish seemed appropriate. I searched for hours, but I couldn't find the perfect shade of of our special color--iris blue-purple. I contacted Heather, and asked if she could match a photo of one of my irises, with some sparkle to match my Mama's personality. She delivered so much more than I could have dreamed of. And because we're silly, our motto for Mama's cancer is, "Cancer is poopy, but we beat it with sparkly unicorn poop and a lotta magnificent medical minds," the name of the polish was easy. Thus "Sparkly Unicorn Poop" was born. I ordered bottles to thank everyone who has been part of the team, helping Mama through this difficult time. Right now Mama is cancer-free post-surgery.  She still needs chemo treatments and radiation therapy to prevent the cancer from returning. But we know we'll get through it together with fabulously polished nails!” I’m so happy that Katie’s Mama is cancer free and I wish her and her family all the strength and positive thoughts while she is undergoing treatment.

Let’s see these charitable polishes, shall we? Sparkly Unicorn Poop is stunning and as a purple lover, I was in love as soon as I opened it. Now that I know the background story, I love it even more. Sparkly Unicorn Poop is a medium purple creme polish with a subtle sparkle to it that I love. It was opaque for me in 2 easy coats and the formula was amazing. Because it’s a creme polish, removal was no issue at all. I used Cuticula’s Rainbow Sherbert scented Static base coat and CuQuickula, a quick drying top coat for this swatch.

The second half of this duo is Peach, Believe In Me, a gorgeous peach creme polish with super subtle sparkles and some shy glitters. In fact, the sparkle and glitter were so shy, I could not capture them in pics but in real life, they are much more visible. I simply love this color. Peach is not a color that I use often enough so I’m happy that I added this polish to my collection. This was opaque for me in 3 thin coats and once again, I had no issues with either formula or removal. I used Cuticula’s Snozzberries scented Silk base and Timeless top coat for this swatch.

These polishes will be available here on 9/8 at 9 am EST and can be purchased until 9/30. Each polish will be $12 each with $2 from each bottle being donated to the Cancer Research Institute. Will you be picking this duo up? Let me know in the comments and thank you for reading!
